Welfare Officers provide a valuable service in serving as the main contact point for pedigree cats who have, unfortunately, been left without a permanent home. Each GCCF affiliated cat club has an Officer who deals with welfare matters. They maintain lists of older or rescued cats who need homes together with lists of people who are willing to offer homes to such cats. If you would be interested in providing a new, permanent, loving home for a pedigree cat, please contact our Welfare Officer and she will discuss the specific requirements of the cats they have for re-homing with you.
If you have to rehome a pedigree cat you should always contact the breeder first if this is possible: most breeders, if they cannot take the cat back themselves at that time, will do all they can to help to rehome the cat. If it is not possible to contact the breeder, or the breeder is unable to help, the next point of contact should be the appropriate specialist breed club, or an all-breed club in your area: the contact telephone numbers, and email addresses if available, are listed on the GCCF site and you will find a link to their site on our Other Interesting Links page. Do not worry if the contact number for the breed club is not local: many larger breed clubs have regional officers who they can contact or put you in touch with, while the smaller clubs will often know somebody in your area who can help.

The Nor' East Cat Club often takes a charity stall at shows in Scotland. The primary purpose of this is to provide information about the club but the stall at our own show raises money for welfare purposes as detailed above. The club donates money to the GCCF Welfare Trust - more information about which is available on the GCCF site - link on our Other Interesting Links page. This money is raised from the charity classes at our own show. Donations are also given to Cats' Protection branches within our region and occasional donations are made to help with the needs of particular cats.
Cats Rehomed in the Past
These two six year old, neutered, British Shorthair boys were being fostered by a Cats' Protection worker because their owner was no longer able to care for them. The one on the left is Chocolate Pointed and the other is Black Tipped. We are delighted to let you know that the boys have been found a new home.
